Create. To make something out of nothing. To start a project from scratch. To pass time by making art. To cause life. These are all examples of what I think about when I hear the word create. One word that links all of these sentences together is the word “to.” The word “to” in this scenario means create. To get something done. It is a means to an end. It is also a direction that has a destination. Going to Segundo. “To” means something is going to happen, to exist. The word literally bridges the gap between separate thoughts. I am headed to Segundo to fetch a pail of water. “To” is a word that puts an action into action. I am going to kick, bite, claw my way back to sleep again. To create. To create without trying. To create without trying to create.

This blog is a multifaceted writing/journaling approach to recovery from mental illness and addiction. I am not a comedian but rather a rattled jewel of sarcasm encased in art. Health, humor, and love is what I seek under the umbrella of family. View all posts by Francis Erich McElroy
