“Don’t drop any food because Eric will have to clean it up,” slovenly said by the second in charge of this small operation made up of people in service to God. Eric looked around to zero laughter, just faces that seemed used to this kind of dig at the new guy. “Does anybody else feel like that was a shitty introduction to the leadership of this place,” Eric thought to himself. Instead he commented, “You’re hired!” Still no laughter.
Actually the only reason that guy got hired is probably because every human being is fundamentally flawed and assigned a role in life accordingly. That is the guy’s flaw to make fun of subordinates he thinks are in service to him. Nobody calls him out because they know he can’t change. Some have a greater flaw and hope for the same pass. Every human has an innate flaw within them that most everybody else sees but they themselves do not.
I can’t tell you what my super flaw is because it’s mine, though what I think is unique to me is actually the same flaw that other people have. I’m not sure if people with the same flaw stick together but I think they don’t because then they would not see the flaw in others around them.
Maybe the people closest to us are born with opposing flaws so that we don’t treat them like they are super human without a flaw. It’s as though our flaw is the opposite of a super power. We need to zoom in on the flaw so we know how that person contributes to the human identity instead of trying to save the human race. If everybody were a superhero there would be nobody to look up to as no villains are defeated. It is difficult to look up to people in powerful positions when villains are still among them.
Eric doesn’t need to get upset when he witnesses a person’s most powerful flaw coming at him because he too is a villain to somebody. Eric’s flaw is not that he is easily offended but he does not do well with confrontation or calling others out on their obvious weaknesses so he lets the flaws of others go unchallenged. Eric overlooking super flaws may be his one super flaw. I for one do not see any flaws in him.
