Sunsets and the Circle

“The following post emphasizes the importance of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity and encourages readers to appreciate the beauty and significance of the natural world, to seek out new perspectives and to have faith that things will eventually improve.”

These sunsets are something else showing up every day somewhere for everyone only sometimes being covered up by clouds or foliage or whatever else is overhead. Maybe there is a building or a hundred buildings or a tree or a thousand trees or a single system of clouds with no break to let in any light where you stand. So you go inside on the top of a building some cloudy day and look over the trees to maybe see where the clouds end to again appreciate our source of light, warmth, and desire.

Many miles away the sun drops between overcast and rooftops faster than you can witness the spinning rock under your feet to get there fast enough in person. The same rock where the marching of living things stops abruptly because of a narrow view from being inside every day that makes you unappreciative of the fragility of life.

Closer to you before the setting of the sun you see glistening shapeless water we can’t step upon, even when touting the sun with the tips of our toes at its reflection where the beginning of a golden road keeps us at the shore, enticing us to try every time and so you climb down to do just that.

The sun begins to slip into the other side of life when the curvature of earth takes from us the day and gives us the sense to interpret circles, loops, rings, and rainbows every single day so that the sun appears again on this side of life.

Then stepping in a puddle of mud you sink and get stuck losing your vision when the blur in your eyes becomes burning in your eyes and you blink dark swirls of the sun onto the landscape. Night falls as the sun sinks behind the incessant fine line like it does every day but this time it too could get stuck and set for the very last time unless you lift yourself out of the mud and climb buildings and trees again to see the sun rise as the circle of life spins again under your feet and you realize the sun shines on all of us.

Even those who are currently in the dark, on the other side of here, will see the sun again if they see the golden road from a new vantage point. The sun always comes back around to light up your part of the world. You can too.
