New Art Forms Discovered

There is a new art form, and it is not solely American. A new American art form is created by Americans, but this one is discovered by those who are not actively seeking that distinction.

Artists meet us where the art form is expressed, introducing culture to the world. They learn their techniques from elsewhere, drawing inspiration from specific places and times.

Any new art form is initiated by unknown pioneers, but in America, we try to pinpoint the beginning of a new style at the point of mutation so that we can claim the art form as our own. It is as if discovery can be rearranged into something new again, and vice versa.

Discovery does not necessarily imply novelty if the phenomenon already exists. It is debatable whether the discoveries in art, science, and technology have always been present, merely awaiting the right person to reveal them through the invention of shapes or sounds, bringing them into existence. Exploratory discovery, on the other hand, involves uncovering a place or object that was always present but needed to be revealed.

A new art form is emerging. 

The new American art form is deemed the pinnacle of where it was discovered, and every subsequent rendition is compared to that level of perfection. The pinpointed and discovered mutation becomes the new art form. As appreciators, we continue to idolize these mutations and credit the pioneers as creators, even though they themselves are mutations. Creators and pioneers, when mutated, are categorized into multiple genres.

The only way art can be considered a new form is if it mutates unintentionally after being idolized and appreciated. Everything that follows is romanticized, while everything prior is exaggerated.

Any new art at conception must be improvised, involving the transformation of established structures into new exploratory territory without a plan. Turning the moment inside out to create something out of nothing is a revelation, whether it is seen as magic or improvisation.

A new art form represents a breakthrough from misconceptions, a realization, an animated discovery.

A new art form has emerged.
