I Can Never Win

At square one I had great expectations for what lay ahead of me but by the time I realized I had already been to square one thousands of times before twenty years had got behind me. What was expected of me had potential written all over it. With potential I can one day do what I am attempting to accomplish at the moment. To one day attain what I am trying today means I’m falling short of my expectations. To have great expectations when I constantly come up short from those expectations means I never tried to go with those initial expectations and relied too much on the potential to achieve greatness in the long run. Expectations are more of a short term challenge after being given motivation to succeed. Potential lengthens the time it will take to fail once again before the outcome is realized. Once there is potential there will always be potential. When there is an expectation to be upheld there are only a few attempts I will have left to fill them depending on where the expectations come from. If the expectation comes from me I can fail as many times as I want. I will never again tell myself I have the potential to do anything without first looking back at what expectations I have placed upon myself. To have great expectations for myself always brings me back to square one. I have the potential and expect to get to square one again a thousand times or more.
