If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?
I would like to put a stop to falling apples. I would silence anyone who makes a dastardly assumption that fruit from a tree is somehow responsible for modern science being tied to anything outside of this planet.
If fruit falling from a tree can somehow show a man the inner workings of the universe I would have to think that the universe is conceivable by humans only because apples grow specifically in my backyard and won’t grow on ice way up north or in desert soil down south. An apple can only grow so far, not out there.
An apple can only fall so far too. If it didn’t have anything stopping it, it wouldn’t have anywhere far to go. No ground, no apple either. An apple would just keep tumbling if it fell from a hypothetical tree that couldn’t grow from out of the ground.
An apple can only roll so far as well. When it hits the ground an apple will roll until it can’t roll any more. It couldn’t be only the ground holding back the apple when it has somewhere to go, something about its size compared to the size of the earth is the reason the apple stops rolling.
There is a force holding it back – the surface of the earth and the apple being smaller than the earth so the apple can’t roll around the earth. Once something smaller and lighter touches something bigger and heavier it would have a hard time moving that object. In order for something smaller to move around something larger they must never come into contact.
If it were up to me I’d never let another apple touch the ground because as soon as it does the apple is no longer the center of the universe and instead rewrites the law, changing everything as we know it, forever.
