There, in an alternate universe, I am a giant. I use tree trunks to pick wild game from my teeth. I eat whole herds by the handful that I roast by tossing towards the sun then open my mouth quickly to catch them like I catch peanuts here, in the universe of shrews, bugs, and worms that do wonderful things for our planet we take for granted. There I burp out tornados. There I cry thunderstorms with an occasional cry-out-for-help hurricane if I get too hungry. I take a rest from snuffing out life at every step, sitting on the slope of a mountain then walk only a mile to a great shoreline where I take a salty bath and float as an attempt for mindfulness because every other living creature here, in the universe of one giant, sees me as their enemy. Here I am alone on an island where I have only one song to hear for eternity that is not from the blood of an Englishman.
The Alternative To Growth

This blog is a multifaceted writing/journaling approach to recovery from mental illness and addiction. I am not a comedian but rather a rattled jewel of sarcasm encased in art. Health, humor, and love is what I seek under the umbrella of family. View all posts by Francis Erich McElroy
